 Nanga Parbat Climbing expedition, One died and two stranded ( July 19, 2008)

 Two Italian climbers stranded on Nanga Parbat North face (Fairy Meadows) at about 7000 meters, however both of them are out of danger, But one of their companion fell and died, according to the rescue team sources.
Climber Karl Unterkircher died while trying to scale the world’s ninth highest mountain, leaving Nones and Kehrer stranded on the peak.

Gondogoro La made crossable. ( June 7, 2008)

According to local news from Hushe, Gondogorola, the highest pass (5800 m) on K2 Hushe leg of Karakorum trail, has been  passable by rescue crew staff from Hushe Baltistan.

Shandur Polo Festival on July 7-9 ( May 25, 2008)

The famous annual calendar event of Shandur Polo Festival will be held at Shandur, the highest polo ground of the world, from July 7 to 9. Player as well as folks form all over the Northern Areas and Chitral will take part in this famous festival.

Trekking permit in Gilgit for travelers coming via China. (February 12, 2008)

Trekking permits to trekking parties coming from China via Sost border can be obtained from office of Chief Secretary in Gilgit Northern Areas Pakistan, according to a notification from the Ministry of Tourism Pakistan.

Transit Visa for Travelers Arriving from China at Sust. (May 20, 2007)

Pakistan has officially restarted transit visa for travelers coming from China over Khunjerab Pass to Pakistan at Pakistan's border town Sust in Hunza valley. Duration of transit visa ranges from a week to a month, which is further extendable for three days to six months in Northern Areas cities of Gilgit, Skardu and at the federal capital Islamabad as well

Youth Performing Arts Festival in Lahore on April 13 - 20 ( April 9, 2007)

The Sixth Youth Performing Arts Festival will open on April 13 at the Alhamra Cultural Complex in Lahore and will continue till April 20,  aimed at supporting young people in their chosen artistic enterprises in performing arts.
The event would also include dance and theatre workshops to be conducted by experts from Germany, India and the United Kingdom, and educational institutions from Lahore, Multan, Karachi and Islamabad will participate in the festival, besides a number of music groups.
Teams from Germany, UK, India and Croatia will also take part in the event.
 

Besakhi Festival in Hasanabdal on April 12-15 ( April 9, 2007)

The annual Sikh festival is set to start on April 12th for three days, in Hasanabdal close to Taxila. Sikh yatrees from across the globe will be assembling here to perform their religious rituals, including Bhog that marks the conclusion of the recitation of the Guru Granth Sahib and Ashnan, the holy bath.
According to sources in the Evacuee Trust Property Board, more than 3,000 Sikh yatrees from India are expected to participate in the Besakhi festival this year.

Business and Tourist Visa on Arrival (April 3 , 2007)

Pakistan  has formally launched the scheme of business and tourist visa on arrival for international travellers. Currently this facility is available only at the Islamabad airport .

Group tour visa would be issued to the tourists of 24 countries on arrival through the designated tour operators. A single entry for one month will be issued to the travelers which could be extended if desired by the travellers

The immigration visa facilitation desk will be issuing business visa on arrival to the passengers of 69 countries on presenting invitation letters from the chambers of commerce or business and investment institutions.
 

Spring Blossom Festivals in Northern Areas of Pakistan (March 21, 2007)

The Northern Areas Administration has finalized arrangements of Spring Blossom Festival in connection with the celebration of visit Pakistan Year 2007, from 21st March to 21st April 2007. According to sources, Polo matches, cultural shows and local games  are the prominent events  in the list of events taking place at different locations in Northern Areas of Pakistan.

Arrangements finalized for Cholistan Jeep Rally. ( March 6, 2007 )

The rally will be held from March 9 to 11 at the historic Derawar Fort in Cholistan. Eighty jeeps are expected to participate in the event. A track of 260 kilometers with nine check posts is being finalized for the race.
